Begin your day with a comfortable drive from the coastal towns of Durrës or Golem toward the heart of Albania — Tirana. As you leave the Adriatic coastline behind, enjoy scenic views of traditional Albanian villages, lush olive groves, and the beautiful Shkumbin River valley.
Once you arrive in Tirana, dive into the vibrant energy of the city. Take a guided walk through the historic Skanderbeg Square, the cultural and political heart of the capital. Admire the Et’hem Bey Mosque, one of the oldest and most elegant Ottoman-era mosques in the country.
Continue to the Pyramid of Tirana, originally built as a museum for the dictator Enver Hoxha, now one of the city’s most striking and controversial modern landmarks. See Nënë Tereza Square, a beautiful open space lined with important national buildings and fountains, named after Albania’s beloved humanitarian.
Next, drive just outside Tirana to the base of Dajti Mountain, where you’ll board the Dajti Express cable car — the longest cable car ride in the Balkans. In just 15 minutes, be lifted above forests, hills, and valleys with panoramic views of Tirana and the surrounding landscape.
Once at the top, have free time to explore the Dajti National Park, take photos, enjoy a drink or lunch at the mountaintop restaurant, or simply relax in the fresh air. The view from the top is one of the best in all of Albania.
